Station House

Station House is an important part of the Camden Film Quarter masterplan, bringing together community uses, essential services and new affordable homes in one carefully designed place.

Located on Holmes Road, the site takes its name from the Grade II listed Kentish Town Police Station, a well-known local landmark. The police will consolidating their services in the area and will vacate the police station, moving into an adjacent building closer to Kentish Town High Street.

Once vacant the police station, it will be adapted to provide flexible spaces for local groups, cultural activities and neighbourhood events, while retaining its historic character. This ensures the building continues to play an active civic role and remains part of the area’s identity.

A Modern Recycling Centre

A new Recycling and Reuse Centre will be delivered next to the existing station. This will replace the existing Holmes Road facility.

The new centre will be significantly improved, with better access, a more efficient layout and upgraded environmental performance. It will be fully enclosed and carefully managed to reduce noise, odour and traffic impacts, creating a cleaner, safer and more user-friendly experience.

Its location, close to Kentish Town High Street and public transport, will also make it easier for people to access using sustainable travel options.

Above the recycling centre, Station House will provide 28 high-quality homes for Camden Council. 25 of the homes replace those currently above the Holmes Road Depot.

The homes are designed to meet modern standards, with good natural light, private outdoor space and access to a shared landscaped garden. They will be delivered in a single phase, allowing neighbours to move together and maintain their existing community.

All the residents currently living in the Holmes Road Depot building have been consulted.

A Carefully Designed Building

Station House has been designed so that all uses can work effectively together.

The recycling centre operates at ground level, with systems in place to manage air quality, noise and activity. Above, the homes provide a calm and comfortable living environment, with careful design ensuring a clear separation between uses.

This layered approach makes efficient use of space while balancing practical needs with quality of life for residents.

The fire strategy for the building has been developed by the OFR team, which has over 30 years of combined fire engineering experience. The fire strategy has also been reviewed by SWECO, a Registered Building Control Approver.
