Masterplan Policy

The regeneration of the Regis Road area in Kentish Town has been guided by Camden Council’s planning policies over several years.

Camden Local Plan (2017) first identified the area as an opportunity for redevelopment, informed by the 2016 Kentish Town Neighbourhood Plan. The Local Plan was followed by the more detailed Kentish Town Planning Framework (2020), which set out a vision for a new mixed-use neighbourhood combining employment, housing and improved public spaces.

The map to the right shows the areas identified in Camden Council’s policy, including the Regis Road Growth Area shown in brown.

Camden Council Adopted Planning Areas

Building on this policy framework, a Masterplan Vision for Camden Film Quarter was developed to explore how the industrial land around Regis Road could evolve into a creative district centred on film and television production, alongside new homes, workplaces and public spaces.

In March 2025, Camden Council adopted the Regis Road Area Guidance Supplementary Planning Document. This document provides detailed guidance for the regeneration of the area shown on the map to the left in the area bordered by a black dashed line, a slightly larger area than the earlier Regis Road Growth Area.

The guidance supports the creation of a connected mixed-use neighbourhood, with new homes, employment opportunities, creative industries and improved public spaces, while strengthening links with surrounding communities.

Camden Film Quarter has been developed within this planning framework and contributes to the long-term vision for the regeneration of the Regis Road area.
